Reunited and It Feels So Good

After a year of no events, we at ARX were extremely gratified to be able to return to one of the most fun and interesting trade shows on our calendar! We reunited with old friends, got to explore some new tech, and enjoyed all the hospitality we’ve come to expect from Dave Asprey and his 7th-Annual Biohacking Conference Team.A common refrain from the weekend was that it felt like “back to school.” 

That same feeling when you haven’t seen your friends all summer, and you finally get back for that first day to reconnect with everyone.Our first Biohacking Conference was the 2nd one Dave and the team put on in 2014. Over the years we’ve met dozens and dozens of fun, innovative, and unique friends in this space. It was hard being away from everyone for longer than normal. This is a small but very close-knit community of like-minded people, and the Biohacking Conference really is the best opportunity a lot of us have to reconnect and talk shop. So a big highlight of this year’s conference was the ability to spend facetime with those with whom we’d become close over the years.I’m almost positive they enjoyed reconnecting too

Mr. Pullano Hits The Big Time

One of the distinct pleasures we had this past weekend was that our very own Chief Product Officer Mike Pullano got the opportunity to give a talk during the breakout time.The title of the talk was, “Stop Resisting Resistance Exercise, It’s Time For Us To Evolve,” and it was an excellent summary of the history of ARX, the current state of the fitness industry, and the integral part we’re playing—and will continue to play—in bringing the field into the 21st century.The very hopeful thesis was that yes, we do currently have the tools to reverse each of the worst health trends in our population. With the convenience and potency of ARX technology, the epidemics of osteoporosis, diabetes, and sarcopenia can be left in the 20th century where they started.

The Company You Keep

Now, it wouldn’t be the Biohacking Conference without some really cool tech that impressed the ARX team. Obviously we feel very confident that our technology represents a world-class biohack that can improve lives safely, efficiently, effectively, and quantifiably. But this doesn’t mean that we aren’t nerds about a ton of other really cool technologies!So enjoy the list of tech below that the ARX team found exciting at this year’s Biohacking Conference:

SaunaSpace

Man, we love us some SaunaSpace. I’ve had one in my home since 2019, and we have one at our Austin headquarters adjacent to our Morozko Forge cold tub (also highly recommended). SaunaSpace provides red, infrared, and sauna therapy through the use of full-spectrum incandescent heat bulbs. This is a unique offering in the red-light space, as products will typically utilize LEDs that only represent one, two, or sometimes three different nanometer-lengths of light.But the SaunaSpace utilizes hundreds of different nanometer-lengths of light, and at a potent power density to ensure maximum photobiomodulatory effect. This particular blood-flow-restriction device caught our attention this year at the show.If you’re not familiar, blood flow restriction (BFR) training modifies the blood flow to the limb during exercise to make the brain think the muscle is working hard.This triggers a robust, anabolic hormonal release into the bloodstream. The systemic response affects all working and healing tissue. Increased growth hormone levels promote improved energy levels, increased performance, anti-aging, and bone density.In the past, such devices have been attached to large terminals, a complicated series of tubes, or other barriers to efficient use.In contrast, the B-Strong bands are simple, portable, easy to use, easy to inflate/deflate, and come with simple protocols that can be followed by anyone.

Hapbee

ARX’s Chief Product Officer Mike Pullano enjoying the “Happy Hour” protocol at the Hapbee booth last weekend The Hapbee device represents an innovative take on wearable technology.It’s not so much a measurement device, and it doesn’t exactly entrain brain waves.
